We HAVE To Do Better!!!

This world can be so cruel at times, when I heard about this story it actually brought me to tears, a woman so young and beautiful and on the right track, will be punished for something so small. Something that most of us have done, frim kids to adults, at amusement parks, school lunch lines, driving, man the list goes on, I know a lot of you are reading and wondering what? Well Heather Renee Ellis was at Walmart three years ago, and cut a line, is now being major punished, shes facing 4 felony counts and up to 15 years in prison, due to cutting that line that evening, Her trial is set to take place in bloomingfield missouri on novemeber 18th. In this small town they say the judicial system is very strick, speculated to be powered by the Ku Klux Klan KKK and the black population is less then %1, and in this area all races fear this courthouse because they rule so strict! This 24 year old woman was pursuing her dream as a pre med student on her journey to success but after this horrible mishap she may have to put those dreams on hold, I will stay tuned to this story so I can update you all. Its sad that something so small is going to change her life for good.

Is it me, or is everyone anticipating these darn awards tomorrow night?

I’ve waited all month, and even got mighty antsy around the time they were taping them because it was the talk of twitter amongst the celebs. This shall be one interesting awards show, first off because Ms. Nicki Minaj is in the building “ya'll already know I be feeling some kinda way when it comes to her” haha. I’m hearing the performance line-up is madd hot; artists like Wale, The Dream, Fabulous, Lil Scrappy, Ludacris, Mario, Souljah Boy, snoop Dogg, Goodie mob, just to name a few. That’s got me anticipating it already, then they are giving an award called “I am Hip Hop” and that’s going to be west coast native Ice Cube. I’ve been listening to his songs and this young man is quite talented, he has a unique flow to him, not like the usual music out now a day’s coming from the young artists but something that’s actual rapping! KANYE WEST: ALIVE!!

It’s so sad, that today’s society can be so ignorant. As I was enjoying my boring night last night a very disturbing subject came up on trending topics “RIP Kanye West”. That instantly irritated me, just because how can people wish a fake drawn out death on this man? Even after all of the wild outburst Mr. West has acted in, and any other weird things he has done, he doesn’t deserve to die!!! That’s just not right, and some of the tweets that surrounded the whole topic were just not interesting to me, here are a few:

All of those inhuman tweets hurt my heart. The whole Kanye West topic even led someone to make a twitter page titled “onelessnigger” bashing the African American race. It’s so sad that whenever something goes wrong, everyone loves to pull the race card, we ended slavery years ago, seems to me like “racism” will never end…you guys be the judge.

Pro-life Day

Abortions, Suicide, and Emotional Abuse. These few tragic topics are the primary reason as to why thousands of people are silent today, 10/20/09. Silentday.org is claiming today to be Pro-life Day. Everyone that is participating in this righteous cause will be silent for 24 hours, as a symbol of those who cannot speak, and will wear either red duct tape or a red arm band. I went to the site and read the three main facts and was shocked/stunned. I mean its unbelievable the fact that since January 22, 1973 there has been over 50,000,000 surgical abortion procedures performed, and just in the U.S. alone. There are a couple more shocking facts but I much rather you guys go to their site to get all the info.

Hopefully just seeing the few, yet very important, topics they touch on will broaden your knowledge. We at the Hollyhood Connect find it extremely imperative that we as young people, and really everyone no matter the age, become aware of these things because they're being swept under the rug, and in some cases not acknowledged period. Even when today is over we still want for people to know that these things are going on and have a little insight. Bag Blog

"She don't call em purses, b*tch call 'em bags" - Rick Ross

      What woman these days doesn't wear a purse, a.k.a. bag? If I may confess something right quick, I'm a bit of a tomboy and I'd rather not carry a bag, BUT seeing how I am a young lady, meaning I have soo many things to carry while I'm out, I'm subjected to wearing a bag. So I decided to find a few bags out there for the true purse lovers and myself, because I still appreciate a cute purse!

First I went to my main source for everything mod and cute, http://www.karmaloop.com/, and found a line of bags called Hype Handbags. This line has eclectic and vintage type bags. I found they have a bag by the name of "The Taylor Crossbody Flap Purse" (Pictured below), which is very reminiscent of young glamorous vintage hollyhood. It also reminds me of a bag Whitney Porter (The City/The Hills) would wear. The bag is a pretty penny though, costing $160.

One suggestion for a cute, fashionable, yet affordable bag would be to go to your local girly shoes/sandal shoe store because most likely they'll sell cute and in style bags too. Where I'm at I have two stores that fit that description, Love D and Reflections. Oh how could I forget Forever 21?! They have very fashionable and affordable bags. One bag I came across from Forever 21 was a Braided Bracelet bag (Pictured below), for only $22.80 thats comes in turquoise and brown, STEAL! Lol

And I didnt forget about our male viewers! I came across an Ostrich Play Cloths Duffle in Caviar, which is uber hot, but then I came across the Play Cloths Bumrush Bookbag in Caviar. Just under $200, I find this bag to be more suitable for almost like an everyday male business bag as opposed to the duffle. On Her Way To The Top!

Yo Yo Yo can we say the Female Rap game, has finally been saved? When Onika Maraj aka Nicki Minaj hit the scene, with her wicked raw ass bars, we were introduced to a different sense of rapping. When we say different we mean some catchy type shit, some shit that we females can relate to, not what these other female rappers have confined our ears to. Don’t get us wrong or misconstrue this blog post, just because were in love with Nicki, doesn’t mean we don’t fuck with other female rappers, Trina still hot, we can still rock with Lil Kim if she was to come back out, there is a few local artist we bang out to also.. Believe that, but when it comes to a “Personal Preference” were rolling with Nicki Minaj. Nicki is a rising icon, that is changing the rap game with her witty personality and we can actually say Nicki is like a movement all by herself, she empowers all her fans, from male to females, gay or straight; not even a major mainstream artist just yet and she’s made such a big impact over her fan base. When she performs she does an actual “Boob Signing” if you listen to her music she always makes mentions to signing pretty girls boobs, and she follows through with what she speaks, it’s a big deal to her fans; she even sometimes gets her male barbies to ask for their boobs to be signed. Many of you guys are probably like “Male Barbies”, well yes male Barbies, Nicki basically has her own language, she even created a “Nictionary”, and better believe her language is spoke anywhere she’s involved, including twitter, MySpace, Facebook, real life, haha she’s a big deal. In her Nictionary she defines all the terms she uses.
I’ll give you guys a breakdown and then after that you guys better step ya Nictionary game up:

Nicki has yet to release an actual album that’s hit stores, but she has plenty of Mixtape like Playtime is Over to Sucka Free to her Most recent Beam Me Up Scotty and she has been featured on several other songs or Mixtape. Even though, Nicki has been such a big talk of the music industry, it wasn’t till recently she was signed to an actual Record Label, and she made a wonderful choice when she rolled with Cash Money/Young Money. I feel that Cash Money/Young Money is going to blast the charts in their approaching years just for the simple fact that they have some of the “IT” artists, such as: LiL Wayne, Nicki Minaj, LiL Twist, Gudda Gudda, Drake, Mack Maine, Bow Wow, Jae Millz, T-Streets, Tyga, Shanell, LiL Chuckee, and former artists Curren$y and Omarion under their belt. If Nicki stays on the same road she’s been traveling to get where she’s at now, I see Nicki Minaj being the “BEST FEMALE RAPPER” hands down, no games or gimmicks haha, even Trina nominated her as The Baddest Bitch in the game, we got faith in her and trust in us, we’ll be a fan till the end. Nicki we need to see you at some Cali Clubs. ASAP! We’re there.

Now I came across this video last night Via Facebook and my original take on the video, I thought it was Hilarious and me not having any children, I seen no harm!! But after watching a few more times, it started to piss me off for the simple fact that the Parents or “adults” in the background were egging on her behavior, and actually enjoying it. I then thought oh my, what if this were my child? What if the wrong people see this video and take things a step higher? Rapid thoughts flashed in my head and thus this blog. As Americans we need to do better parenting for children these days, from cussing to fighting to killing, kids these days are outrageous! Yes half of you may say “who is she to speak, she doesn’t have kids” but you can bet your top dollar you won’t see any YouTube videos of my child doing any of the above when I choose to have one! I’m not saying all but majority of these Parents need to take some classes, gain some tips, to better their children’s lives. Enough said, watch the Video…

Review: 106 & Park Tour

A couple weeks ago, I got the chance to check out BET's sold out 106 & Park tour at the Anaheim House of Blues. Besides the standing-up-for-5-hours part, I enjoyed myself! (Meeting Trey after the show was definitely a big factor, but still!)  Overall I thought it was a good lineup with great performances.  Performers included singer/songwriter/producer Sean Garrett, Day26, Mario & headliner Trey Songz.  Let's do a breakdown, shall we?


Sean Garrett: The songwriter/producer behind hits like C. Breezy's "Run It!", Usher's "Yeah" & Beyonce's "Diva", (just to name a few) Sean Garret has been around for a minute whether you realize it or not!  He opened up the show performing a couple of his own songs like "Lay Up Under Me" and "Come On In".  Imma keep it "100" when I tell you that I didn't know any of this man's songs though! *sorry*. He got the crowd crazy hype when he pulled out that infamous brown box, (LOUIS VUITTON for my fashion newbies :-P), & gave a Louis bag to one lucky lady in the crowd. I can't fully rock with Sean Garrett yet because his voice absolutely does NOT match his body, but with a steady stream of good music I'm sure I'll get into it!

Day26: I've heard mixed reviews from friends who also attended the show but I personally think Day26 did well! I've been wanting to see them live for a while now & they didn't let me down! They performed their singles "Exclusive" as well as "Imma Put It On Her".  My favorite was when they performed a "Co-Star" and "Your Heels" because those are two of my favorite Day26 joints! It looks like they've definitely been in the dance studio because they were all grindin' like there was no tomorrow! *yes, Big Mike too! ;)* LOL. They are still relatively new to the game so I can only expect that they will keep perfecting their performances and improving their craft.  I don't think anyone heard Willie's voice over the screams of just about every female (& some males) in the building though! I'm sure the naked pics encouraged that, at least a lil' bit! :-P


Mario: I'll admit, I wasn't excited about seeing Mario at first. I mean, I enjoy his music but the new bald look had me side-eye'in him just a lil' bit.  However, he did his thing! His vocals were on point & he had females throwin' panties left & right.  He even pocketed a pair... Don't know how I feel about that though! LOL. Anyways, Mario performed his earlier jawns like "Just A Friend" & "Let Me Love You" and he ended his set with his new single "Break Up" where Sean Garrett came back out & their energy was crazy!  By the way, Mario's new album DNA is in stores TODAY so go cop that babes!

* DISCLAIMER: The following section will be extremely biased! I stan crazy hard for Mr. TREMAINE NEVERSON! :-P *

Trey Songz: Being exhausted and sweaty after standing for about 4 hours in an overly crowded room was irrelevant once Trey Songz took the stage.  The last performer of the night & the best performer of the night, without a doubt!  Anticipation was high as the crowd started anxiously screaming "We Want Trey!".  He stepped out in a fly grey & black suit, on his Oceans 7 shit ;).  From the minute he started performing, the crowd was going crazy.  The ladies in the building were throwin' panties like they were going out of style!  His set included "Gotta Go" from I Gotta Make It (2005) as well as "Last Time" *one of my favs by the way:)*, "Can't Help But Wait", & "Missin' You" from Trey Day (2007).  Trey performed the bulk of his set from his newest creation, Ready, including songs such as the album's infamous intro "Panty Droppa", "Black Roses", "I Invented Sex", "I Need a Girl" and "LOL :)".  He also threw in "Scratchin' Me Up" from his mixtape Anticipation *dopeness*.  Everyone in the crowd, including myself, was entertained from beginning to end.  Believe me when I say, Trey does not disappoint!  He ended the night with his favorite song off of the album, "Yo Side of the Bed".  Not only were his vocals incredible (as expected), but his energy & his aura were unmatched!  

The highlight of my night was after the show, when I got to meet Trey! *still smiling :)* I'd be lying if I told you guys that I wasn't nervous... Honey I was shaking!  The thought of meeting someone who you respect and love, not just as a musician, but as a person as well... I was on cloud 9 to say the least.  He was so chill & humble... it made me love him even more! Of course, hearin' him say "baby" was enough to make me melt anyway :-P.  So to sum it all up, the show was great, Trey was amazing... shout out to BET for putting together a great tour!

Shyne's Homecoming "Halted"

Shyne's expected release date from prison came and went Tuesday as the rapper remained in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in New York. Word of his delayed release surprised many and caused a stir about his whereabouts as conflicted reports were filed by media outlets. Immigration is said to be holding Shyne because of his “Violation of U.S immigration” being that he has a felony rap sheet here in the U.S they want to deport him back to his native Belize. This is a shock and hard blow to most of us, he served his 10 years, and now they want to ship him off? That man served his time, come on folks, let’s focus on all the other crimes being committed, anything to hold a person back, trust and believe they will try! I hope Shyne gets to stay here in the U.S we will keep you up to date on this one folks…

Fashion Time!

         This blog is for the fashion babies, and of course everyone else we dont discriminate at HHC. Okay so down to business. It seems like everyday these underground clothing lines are coming out the wood works on me. A few of these lines would be PlayCloths, a line created by hip hop duo/brothers The Clipse; Rebel8 Clothing, a guy named Joshy D. started this line with $500 and a dream; another line would be Insight Clothing, which was started in the 90's, by George Gorrow and Natalie Wood, but made it big in '05. The thing I like about underground/new lines such as these lines is the simple fact that if you purchase clothes by companies such as or like, it shows you have an "eye" and that you like to look good.

You cant just go in your average store and buy articles of clothing from these lines. Not to say that there aren't stores that may carry clothes of the sort, but they most likely will be boutiques or specialty clothing stores like Metro Park or something. Most of these lines have their own websites, but are also featured on fashion directory sites like www.karmaloop.com and www.shopsureel.com. I came across karmaloop about 4 years ago, and I haven't been able to forget it! They carry soo many brands it's crazy. I keep refering to brands comparable to the ones I listed above but have yet to mention the actual brands, so here they are, Hellz Bellz, 10Deep, Crooks & Castles, Married to the Mob, Obey, Soundgirl etc. Okay okay, I'll be completely honest, some (most) of these brands could get a bit pricey but look at it this way, you'll most likely be the only one in your surroundings that will have what you have, people will wanna know where you got it from, and you'll look like the fahion high roller of the circle lol. Seriously check these brands out though 'cause you know now-a-days every young person wants to be the first to know/have something. GOSSiP BUZZ!!

Well Well Well now you know were not one to gossip or “speculate” but we got some new ear candy for ya. Word around town is that Newlyweds “The Dream & Christina Milian” may be expecting a “Baby Dream-Milian” New pictures back up that little speculation, he face has that “preggo”, guess we’ll stay tuned for that. Folks are also speculating that Mr. Justin Timberlake is cheating on Jessica Biel with “Rihanna” yikes, we hope not Justin….that’s Trouble all in the making, another buzz is that Lisa Raye is now dating Rev. Al Sharpton;o0owee girl we hope NOT! Tattoos are in Right? Yeah Lil Wayne sure believes so, he recently got a new “Face Tattoo” somewhat like Boxer Mike Tyson’s, I’m a tattoo fanatic, so I low-key like the new Tat Haha, speaking of Wayne, it’s rumored that we might be seeing a “Hotbox” reunion sometime soon. Okay, so I'm looking at my timeline on twitter and I see that a friend of mine tweeted "If @officialTila was gonna do it, she wouldn't be tweeting about it 2 weeks in advance. Thats stupid. Someone will intervene." So I use my common sense and figure Tila Tequila's talking wreckless. I'm not following Tila so I put in her twitter name and what do you know, SHE IS! I mean REAL WRECKLESS! She was talking about how God told her that she is needed "up there" and that she was gonna kill herself tonight, (10/4), but a friend stopped her and she told them she'll wait but only for 2 weeks and then nobody can stop her. I have no clue if this woman is serious, if someone else is writing all this, or if this just a publicity stunt, because her account on twitter is verified. One reason why I think this may be publicity stunt is because she is retweeting everything that everyone is writing to her. Some of the retweets are saying such things as kill yourself, dont do it, i wanna come with you, and some people are just speaking rationally to a troubled/bothered Tila. Dont believe me about the tweets to and from Tila, well here some are; "I know more about God than any of u. I had 6 near death experiences and died a few times N docs brought me back 2 life I seen the other side " - Tila, "Since everyone is urging me that I should do it and encouraging me to do it sooner. If you need/want to be more in the public eye then go to award shows, walk down Robertson blvd. for camera action, talk horribly about celebrities, or stumble out a club drunk as a skunk for TMZ cameras to catch you, but tryning to commit suicide via getting encouragement from twitter is NOT the way! If perhaps she is really contemplating taking her own life she just needs to head on over to the nearest church, kneel down and pray until her knees bleed. Do me a favor…Call me Jerk one more time..

The jerkin’ movement has been such a HUGE thing here on the west coast and rapidly moving around the world. On the (Wikipedia) jerkin’ is defined as “A Los Angeles dancing Movement” which is very so much true, I can go as far back to “05” where I seen older cats doing a version of Jerkin’ at parties and Car Club functions in Los Angeles, I use to watch them and Be like okay that Dance is Kind of “Catchy” and now down the Line we got everyone Jerkin’ from old folks to teens to kids. We have to give some credit to the new Groups “New Boyz” and “AudioPush” they brung the jerk movement Mainstream to the world with their smash singles “Teach me How to Jerk” by AudioPush and “You’re a Jerk” by the New Boyz; I give major props to both groups. Its Sad though because they receive a lot of bad criticism from some people due to the Jerkin’ Fashion (which I LOVE), Jerkin’ Fashion can be described as Skinny Jeans sometimes Bright Colored skinnys, V-Neck shirts, Plaind/Flannel shirts, Vans, Chucks, Chains and they sometimes integrate the 80’s and 90’s fashion to create a one if a kind look. If you stay in or ever visit Cali your Bound to see skinny jeans Everywhere!! That’s the New style, So if it’s a trend/style for this movement why critique? Jerkin has become known all over, if you visit YouTube and search Jerkin’ its going to produce thousands of videos from across the U.S I’ve even seen some overseas Jerkers, that’s another element that made Jerkin’ so big; the Youtube Videos. A few Jerkin’ Crews that stand out to me are TeamDummy, ThePower Rangers, Action Figures /Action Figure Barbies, and many many more, you can search them Via Youtube if you would like to see some Jerkin moves or even want to learn to jerk. Another element Jerkin has brung upon is a new Genre of Music. Im a huge Fan of some jerkin music artist such as: TayF3rd, YG, AsiaLynn, The Vixens, Aeiress Ent, New Boyz, AudioPush, Y.B and super producer/songwriter JHAwK also believe me there are so many more, too many to name. Maybe I’ve been rambling on and on about Jerkin, but I commend all these Young Adults on there Jerkin’Movement it’s a Big Deal. Keep it Up. I would love to see jerkin’ WorldWide, and keep expanding…

Mr. Dofat Is At It Again!

Few weeks back we spotlighted Tony Dofat on an upcoming song he’s working on with Gorilla Zoe
(Song so far is Straight Fire) and now were bringing to you the new Twitter buzz “TinyChat”! Dofat has the mosttalked about tinychat room ever, For you that are not familiar with TinyChat, TinyChat is a WebCam based Chat Room; where you can either broadcast live feed from your webcam or just type in the chat room box and converse with one another. In dofat’s particular rooms he brings Celebrities in to talk to the fans or hes gone as far as educating viewers about the music industry. Im actually a fan and rapid visitor to Dofat’s tinychats room, they can be very entertaining.
