Rest in Peace Brittany Murphy

Actress Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into cardiac arrest and couldn't be revived. The Fire Department reportedly received a call at 8:00AM from the home that belonged to her husband, Simon Monjack. She was discovered unconscious in the shower at around 8am by her mother. They immediately took her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where they pronounced her dead upon arrival. Los Angeles' county coroner also confirmed: "We do have a preliminary death report of a Brittany Murphy" coming from Cedars-Sinai." Shortly after her death, her ex boyfriend Ashton Kutcher paid tribute to her via his Twitter page. He tweeted: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, and her amazing mother Sharon. See you on the other side kid. (sic)" She was only 32 years old. Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless " and "8 Mile." Such a tragic loss! Our condolences go out to her family.

Atypical Elegance

On my grind yesterday, I came across Atypical Elegance; a Lesbian Rap Duo, Two femmes at that. To be honest, at first I chuckled, saying to myself they better not sound like some of these other LGBT artists, Rapping or Singing about the same shit. And thank GOD they gave me some wonderful ear candy, pleased me from the beats they were rapping over to the content of the songs. Atypical Elegance consists of two young women hailing from a small city in Texas, just miles outside of Dallas called Waco; Ashli [Gumbo Barbie] and LaTaya [Flawlez Barbie] hit the scene with two hot ass singles

“Unconventional” & “Gucci Barbie”.

These two young ladies joined forces during their high school years and actually have been writing music and having dreams of becoming music artists since then but never pursued their dream due to having lack of faith from their surroundings, Atypical Elegance told me “We’re from a really small town, & dreams don’t usually come true”, I personally wish these girls would have had this drive that they have now and pursued these dreams back then, which such wonderful talent that they possess Lord knows where they would be right now in the Hollywood World.

Flawlez and Gumbo later joined forces with their Manager Kash whom is also a talented Woman from Texas; she refers to herself as the female Diddy, so we can tell from jump that she’s about her business and I respect that.Through all their hard work and studio time, dedicating a lot of their personal time to the music scene, Atypical Elegance came with their hit “Unconventional”; a very catchy club beat type song. Unconventional had me bouncing and trying to catch on to the words immediately, in this song they wanted to make a statement, saying that this group was nothing like the others; very different from the rest. I believe that was a positive move, like I stated most LGBT artist that I do hear, are portraying the same message, rapping or singing about the same thing, when I listen to music, I love to hear different styles, different content, different everything, it brings more passion into the music. My hat goes off to these Ladies, they set the tone, I can’t wait until summer of 2010 to get a copy of their mixtape, until then I hope to hear lots more from them.

Chris passed away from his injuries today.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry was seriously hurt in an automobile accident Wednesday in the Charlotte area, TV station WLWT is reporting. The Bengals confirmed the news, releasing a short statement that Henry suffered "very serious" injuries.The Charlotte Observer which is a local newspaper there reports that Henry fell out the back of a pickup truck in an incident precipitated by a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, and that police found him in the road with life-threatening injuries. According to the report, Henry jumped into the bed of his girlfriend's truck as she left a Charlotte-area residence, then "came out" the back of the vehicle at some point.Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan told WLWT that Henry is listed in serious condition in a Charlotte-area hospital. Brennan said the team is ready to offer assistance to Henry's family as needed.There is no word on the cause of the crash or the specific nature of Henry's injuries. The Bengals say he was in Charlotte visiting his girlfriend's family.Henry, who was once a poster boy for the NFL's problems with off-field player misconduct, has had a relatively quiet 2009 both on and off the field. He had 12 catches for 236 yards as a Bengals backup this season before being placed on injured reserve with a broken forearm last month.

Malice in Wonderland

If you’re a true west coast music fan, if you was down with the Dre and Snoop duo back in the day….. Then you’re gonna LOVE Snoop Doggs new album Malice in Wonderland. Snoop to me redeemed his self with this album, this album has the original West Coast feel to it like when he use to Collab with Dr Dre, or the Dogg Pound; his recent shit I wasn’t feeling just because it had a different tone that coming from Snoop, I wasn’t use to, I just knew Snoop was near the end in his music career, he proved me wrong and I love it. This album you can expect a few features with wonderful artist like Jazmine Sullivan, Kokane, R. Kelly, Nipsey Hussle, Souljah Boy, The Dream and several others.  If you haven’t heard the album I don’t even want to spoil it for you, just go out and grab you a copy. Be expected to play 1-14 with no skipping.

When I came across this video, I was happy; I finally got to see Chris Brown enjoying him self, just living his life without all the ridicule from the media, all the flip flop ass fans hating, he seemed so drama free at the moment. This man is still young and some of us need to just let him live, he made a mistake, he learned from it, expressed his apologies, so I mean let him be, like I've said before we don’t know what happened still to this day, so why judge? Kardashian Season Premiere!!

The Kardashians and crew gave us such a animating season premiere, I was tuned in the whole hour; I mean eyes glued, no moving,  wasn’t taking calls, tweets, emails, texts, NOTHING. Haha. Great way to start off a season with the Khloe & Lamar duo house hunting, boy oh boy them damn expensive houses gave me so much motivation, I need to hurry and get rich! I was in love with the 5.9 million house right along with Khloe! That house was beyond Phat, but when you try to be logical about the whole situation, Lamar was in his right mind; because I'm pretty sure Khloe will pop up Preggo anytime soon now. Speaking of being Preggo, Kourtney looks so adorable pregnant, she has such a glow to her, just sucks that they stress her out so much behind that loser Scott. Hopefully this experience helps Scott gain some sense of maturity and step up to the plate, get a job, drop all the sidelines and become a changed man. OMG what the hell was Kim on? Babygirl shouldn’t have even let them shoot her all down and out over Reggie like that, not a good look at all mamas, I’m glad she snapped back into reality and got her shit together. I Love the fact that Khloe slapped the shit out of Scott at the end haha I can’t wait until next week to see what happens next, that fool deserves it, I agree one hundred percent with Khloe, he’s a douche bag. Fashion Alert: “Tokidoki”

A big sensation that is hitting a lot of fashionistas these days is Tokidoki; Tokidoki was brought to life by Simone Legno, an Italian born young man who has such a deep love for the culture of Japan; so he collaborated the passion he has for the Japanese culture and Art and Fashion all in one and came up with such a vibrant and fashion forward movement. Simone started Tokidoki as just his own personal website, with just his work, personal diary and so on; in 2003 the site caught the eyes of the creators of the well known cosmetic company Hard Candy, they showed interest in Simone and his work, the company branched out they helped to finance this Mans dream and now they are world wide, Tokidoki was recently this year picked up by Target, so you just might see or be seeing items for purchase. What recently caught my eye was that they are hosting a new Line catered to Hello Kitty for her 35^th anniversary, they have developed purses, shoes, clothes and much much more, if you’re a Hello Kitty fan I suggest that you go take a look at the new items they have available. Better look fast because they are so in demand that they sell Out  FAST!!!

Oh The Agony....

I never really touch on the media and entertainment aspect of our blog, BUT lately there's been a few things that have just truely gotten under my skin. First I want to start on the topic of Chris Brown & Rihanna. Please Please Please lets MOVE ON from this situation that has absolutely nothing to do with "us". It's about to be a year since it occured and people are still dwelling on this. I mean I feel stupid even writing about this, but I just need to vent right now lol. Name one person that doesnt know someone who's been involved in a domestic violence situation, and you've found a liar. Let these people go forward with their lives esp. Chris. Now I'm not being biased, but he's admitted his wrong doing and, from the looks of the interviews, is clearly growing up and maturing. Cant say the same for Rihanna but thats another story.

The next thing bothering me is seeing how everybody is on Swizz Beatz for dating Alicia Keys. They are two grown, independent, consentual adults. Obviously their previous relationships weren't working out, otherwise they would still be in them. People DO fall out of love sheesh. If your following Swizz Beatz on Twitter, the man clearly stated that it had been almost 2yrs and some change since him and Mashonda had been seperated. So Swizz & Alicia are wrong for finding something special in one-another and pursuing it?! Raise your hand if you dont rock with Swizz Beatz now because of this, but still down with A.Keys. Now harshly slap yourself for the simple fact that she too was in a long committed relationship prior to Mr. Beatz. Yes, I dont know all the facts and what-not, but people still need to get off their heads.

And lastly, Tiger "MF'n" Woods. Honestly I dont even want to comment, but I have to. Name someone that doesnt know of at least one guy they know that has cheated on their significant other, and yet again you have a LIAR. The "main mistress" was on the first season of VH1's Tool Academy, soo Im gonna just guess that maybe she's just trying to extend her "5" min. of fame, 5 b/c she went home early lol. Now everybody & they mama want to come out the wood-works claiming to have had relations with this man. Im too through on this subject. THE MAN CHEATED, HE CRASHED, HIS WIFE'S BY HIS SIDE, AND SMUTS ARE LOOKING FOR EXPOSURE, THE END.

Soo basically I just wanted to vent on these topics real quick because I'm soo tired of the media running something soo low. Everyone's keeping up on the entertainment drama when there's more to the news then that, like how a pregnant woman carrying twins was stabbed to death in her own home, how a woman has criminal charges against her for skipping deployment b/c she had no-one to care for her 10 month old son, and how a woman wrote a letter to her son that was in the service, only to have it returned to her marked in bold red letters "deceased", not even knowing her son was killed. So the moral to this story is YES it's cool to keep up with the Stars and have input on their situations, but educate yourself on the worldly matters and have input on those situations also.

A lot of you may be familiar with some of the many YOUTUBE personalities; one that caught my eye was “SbSam0890” You never know how down to earth a person can be until you converse with them, and this interview helped me to gain so much positive vibes from her. SbSam is a young woman that gives much love to her community; here’s an in depth interview with her:

 *So you’ve been quite a hit on YOUTUBE, how long have you been making videos for YOUTUBE?

Technically way more than a year I started a YOUTUBE around February 2008 but it was deleted so I think I restarted it around august 2008...I'm not too sure.

*What first inspired you to make videos? Did you think your fan base would grow so big?

- I started YOUTUBE to see if I would get a reaction and I did actually rather quickly! I would get over 100 views for each video every week now for a NEW YOUTUBER u get 3 or 4 weekly I was getting over 100. So after I saw people really didn't see studs like me it helped me come out of my shell more.  So came the birth of SBS...

*I love your dancing skills that you always showcase; how long have you been dancing?

-I have always been dancing since I could walk literally when I was about three or four my mother put me in a dancing class ballet to be exact. I was the top student in that class. Then I took a break until I was six I started tap dancing then jazz classes, hip-hop, street dancing, and back to ballet in all I took eight years of dance school then took another break.

*Your also very athletic other then skateboarding, what other sports do you play?

-Wow, um you could say I'm your all around sports girl. Growing up I did everything baseball, softball, basketball, golf, soccer, racket ball, tennis, bowling, skateboard practice, aggressive inline practice, karate, track & field, and volleyball. Yeah...and I still participate in various sports on my own currently I'm on my school's bowling team, and I skateboard all the time.

* In one of your Videos you stated that you recently became a Partner w/ YOUTUBE, what have been the benefits from that so far?

So far...nothing...just being partners in the beginning if they see something special about your channel you go through a process. They watch your videos what is your target audience, what is your average number of views per video? If any of my videos can help them make money by high ratings or high amount of views I get part of the money. Currently I do not have enough views or the large amount of subscribers to make any money or get the right publicity I need.  The money honestly...I don't give a sh*t about.  I am making people happy, helping young LGBTQ members get through difficult confusing times. I have many people message me and say "thank you so much you don't have and idea how much you inspire me to be me and not worry about the public."

*Being a part of the LGBT community, did that alter any of your decisions on making your videos nationwide due to the fact that everyone is not comfortable with homosexuality?

-no it did not alter my decision at all. Everyone that knows me knows that I am completely comfortable with myself mentally, physically, spiritually, and sexually. What I feel is my business and for other people that uncomfortable with my life style or how I go about things is of Non concern to them. If I was in danger to myself and others than there is something wrong and they can intervene.  But if I am not of harm to anyone and I'm simply living my life, everyone else that isn’t family close friends or a lover. I couldn't waist my time on trivial little comments or opinions.

*On some of your videos you give advice and discuss issues concerning the LGBT community, do you find that your fans are receptive to the advice that you offer?

-Yes I have had no videos that my fans or viewers really didn't like. I have always gotten a positive response.  The issues that I discuss are the ones that are most requested. Everything I talk about or dance to is of high request from the audience.

*How have you helped in the LGBT community? What are some things that you’ve done? Who from the LGBT community have you linked up with?

-I would say so far I have helped many of our younger LGBTQ community many say & ask "how do I come out" "my girl doesn't like that I am DL" "I think I am gay" "what's is the mentality of a fem/stud..." "I think I'm bi" and the most famous "I am new at this how do I approach...” I give them a few tips of advice and a few days or a week later I get a message back. Thank you all the helped you gave helped me so much it was so much easier. You’re such an inspiration! That's what keeps me going.  I have also helped promote shirts that gave a percentage of there earnings to the "Make a Wish Foundation".

*You consider yourself to be the “Sexiest Stud on YOUTUBE” correct? What helps you to hold that title? Lol don’t get all cocky on me, and have you had any flack about that title?

-Hell yeah I consider myself that. I'm sayin "sexiest"
I mean Intelligent, passionate, Intimate, there when you need me, you want me forever but hold my memory for hours, seducement through the screen, inside and out you scream for more...well that's how I describe it haha. I feel like I hold that title because yes a lot of people try to do it but lack in certain areas and connect to the camera but can't dance well. Can dance well but can't connect to camera. Can dance and connect to the camera but can't promote themselves. It’s a competitive thing YOUTUBE everyone wants to be apart of it but not for the right reasons or have no goal at all I do. That is what sets us apart.

*What do you hope comes from your YOUTUBE/INTERNET famous celebrity status?

-I hope to help our community to be more understood amongst the US, and around the world. I have fans that’s from the UK, and ASIA. I hope to make a movement, the money isn't really important to me. I just want to be able to marry the women that I want to without a problem that we are same sex.

*Where do you see yourself five years down the line [career] wise?

- Not to sure right now maybe a graphic designer or computer animator, tattoo artist, train to be a professional skateboarder, or maybe LGBTQ activist. Where ever I will be I know I will be great at it until then I will focus on school.

*Can you give us a famous quote from you, or some words of wisdom for the fans?

-what you learn you may not understand today, but can make you stronger with every breathe you take tomorrow don't be scared of what you know, be scared for the people who don't have that privilege to learn. I just made that up it simply means don't pre judge something learn about it right now you may not get it. But tomorrow you'll start to get it. Don't be scared to know something new, people that don't learn become ignorant and stay in a comfortable bubble. Our lives are surrounded by change if your not apart of change you block out wonderful things we call life.

On the Rise....

Sometimes being on Twitter you can come across some very interesting and talented people; Twitter opens door for mass networking and awesome new adventures. One person that has always stood out to me was one of my followers “@Phoenixstar9”, this woman was always dead smack dedicated to whatever she did, from getting folks followers ha-ha, or her T.A.D to promoting beats and I Loved her dedication. If you’re a Twitter head then you may be familiar with Ms. Phoenix, she’s a South Carolina native and makes her hustle by being a creative producer/songwriter. Phoenix was introduced to the music industry years ago due to the fact that she loved music and the creativity that streamed from most of the music; she took it and ran with it. Phoenix started to learn the basics of the music world, learned several different aspects, like the business side of music which will indeed become the prime of a successful career, the music theory as far production goes, and also just being around others that were in the music business and failed, Phoenix even tells us that she failed once but Never gave up and that helped her to learn newer steps and skills to make a comeback and make things work. One of the people that helped Phoenix get back on track with the Songwriting process was another one of my Twitter followers’ @ymacy (feel free to follow her via twitter) she inspired Phoenix to put her skills to work, thus came the Classic Twitter song called “tweet her”. Inspired by all of the beautiful woman she is surrounded by on Twitter daily it’s a very catchy cute song; if you haven’t checked that out please do so. Although she has yet to work with any mainstream artists, she has worked with several underground artist and at the moment majority of them are R&B singers that need the “special touch” that Phoenix has, she says if she could work with some Mainstream artists they would have to be The Dream, Teedra Moses, Mariah Carey and Jagged Edge, hopefully as time goes by and her name gets out their she will be blessed to work with those artists. Believe it or not, being on Twitter, and having talents can be very successful at times, Phoenix uses twitter for networking purposes as well as personal, and she has gained a very nice size fan base, has gained several clients, and also gained a smooth rapport with other businesses and producers, to help them promote their beats also. I believe that if this wonderful Woman sticks to her dreams and goals, well be seeing a lot more of her as time goes by; her drive and dedication is amazing. We at the Hollyhood Connect wish you and your Career the best of luck. In closing Phoenix wanted to encourage anyone out their doing something positive in their life, but it may just not be going how you’d like with some of her wonderful words “NEVER EVER GIVE UP, Even though you might get a million No’s it just takes one YES to get you where you need to be”.

American Music Awards 2009

Spectacular Award show, Spectacular Fashion, Spectacular Performances with Spectacular People; 2009 American Music Awards by far was the Best. This year they opened the awards with Janet Jackson, her performance was marvelous, Janet performed several of her hits and was dancing her ass off very good choice for an opening act. These awards are very much so different from the other award shows I'm accustomed to like the BET awards or Hip Hop Awards MTV Awards and such. The American Music Awards featured all types of Genres of music Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Country and so on. Black Eyed Peas took home an award for Best Pop/Rock Band they were all looking very dapper, Fergie was rocking a new hair color, which I Loved. Best Country Band award went to Rascal Flats, Best Alternative Rock Award went to Green Day, Breakthrough Award went to a new group that I’ve never in my life heard of by the name of Gloriana, Best Male Hip Hop/Rap award went to Jay Z and the lovely ladies Keri Hilson and Toni Braxton introduced that award to Mr. Carter, the Late Michael Jackson won several Awards that night that his brother gave wonderful speeches for and Young Taylor Swift won the award for Artist of the Year she took home several awards tonight. There were plenty of other awards given furthermore but too many to mention. I was amazed to see that they had so many impressive performers this year such as Daughtry, Shakira performed with her sexy woman based dancers, Keith Urban performed his hit song “Kissed a Girl”, and also Kelly Clarkson. A-Rod aka Alex Rodriguez introduced JayZ and Alicia Keys to perform their addictive anthem “New York” Alicia and Jay were dressed very dapper for this performance a positive Good Look they had several fans of the song in the audience dancing and singing along to them like Mary J Blige and Kendu, Keri Hilson, Country Singer Reba, Leona Lewis, Whitney Houston and even Perez Hilton. During this performance it was the talk of twitter everyone was wondering if Lil Mama would do a repeat of the MTV awards and run on stage, Comedian/Actor Marlon Wayans said Via Twitter “#AMAs watch Lil Mama crawl up out the Piano and Pose for the ending” that tickled me, he was referencing to the Piano Alicia Keys was playing on if you didn’t see the award show. Other performers were Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna made a debut performance with her new song “Wait is Over” she was dressed in a Mummy Like outfit, looked of the consistency of Tape, very weird but was Sexy. Lady Gaga stunned us with her feisty performance and her stunning head dresses she likes to wear, breaking glass and Burning Pianos loved it, Mary J Blige, Jlo came back on the scene with her new song singing about the expensive red bottomed shoes “Louboutins” she was amazing and the track was actually catchy, Whitney Houston performed, Timbaland, Green Day performed “21 Guns”, 50 Cent & Eminem, and they Closed out with Adam Lamberts new song. It was a night worthwhile staying in watching these awards. I was very impressed this year, hopefully next year they can compete with themselves and do much more. Who knows they just might, more and more everyday we are introduced to new music. Overall if they play repeats and you missed it, I suggest you catch the repeat.

How do you feel about Cali Music? West Coast Music? Jerkin Music? Hyphy Music? All these genres of music are liked upon “preference”, and that’s a Fact. It kills me to have certain people judge and critique a certain genre due to the demographic info behind the genre, I personally like all types of music and artists for that matter, because anyone out their that can be creative enough to come up with a song or album, and pitch it to make a hustle, I can dig it; So I’m not going to knock that person. Its several million people that judge others on a daily and aren’t doing shit with their life, which bothers me tremendously. Growing up I always heard the saying “don’t knock another niggas hustle” and I believe in that saying, who am I to judge a person because it’s not to my liking? Funny thing is, it’s all in human nature to do so, no matter what a person is going to hate. This whole topic was triggered by a song that I actually like, its called “Toot it & Boot it” by TY$ ft YG & TeeCee. They are new Cali artist on the come up and people that are on YOUTUBE are constantly stating their wack, or dumb music, or just harsh rude comments. Well hey, I love the song, and the positive things that they have going. You folks also have to remember that the Music we listen to here in Cali is different from other music; it’s our style.

Im back on my music tip! Not too much, BUT Im back nonetheless. Okay now contain yourself. Jk! Anywho, if you've read my past blogs on the topic of music you can sort of sense that I'm not a huge mainstream music lover. Dont get me wrong I watch MTV Jams like the next person, but I find myself liking the music of Local and Underground artist, and artist that are on the come up a tad more. Okay not a tad, quite a bit more lol. The reason I like music artist like this is because you get them at face value. Their raw in a sense. No big Execs. behind them making them change their image up on us after we begin to follow their career and music. Un-BrainWashed. No BS (bullsh*t), just good music.
Well I said I wasn't going to write a dang essay on this, so let me just get into this. So for this Edition of "No POP-Heads Allowed", lol, I have local/underground/on-the-come-up artist from the West Coast. They would be; PacDiv (Pacific Division), Dom Kennedy, Comptons Double P, Carter, Tay F3rd, YG, U-N-I, The Vixens, Asia Lynn, Threee C (3C), and Ya Boy. I didn't list all the more known artist first, because honestly all these artist are making a name for themselves. To me their all a breath of fresh air, and great representations of how the West Coast's young adults are soo laid back, hip, and creative.

Well I rather you guys check them out because I already know what they sound like. && if this is your first time hearing of some of these artist and you like them then hit them up let them know you like what you hear (and possibly throw Hollyhood Connect a bone and tell them you heard about them HERE!)
